What would you think if we told you to place the point of an arrow against the softest part of your neck while the other end is pressed against a tree or wall and push in to it until the arrow snaps?
We know the thoughts that will be in your head because we, like many others, have stood in the exact same position. Arrow Snapping is like all of the other challenges that we provide – it’s achievable and empowering.
Why do it?
There are many benefits to be gained from arrow snapping, of which these are some of the key learning points (pardon the pun):
Increased confidence
Improve your focus
Challenge limiting beliefs
Facing your fears
As well as all of the above, arrow snapping in a Team setting is brilliant for boosting morale and camaraderie. Team members will rally behind each other offering words of support and encouragement which will of course be followed by cheers celebrating each successful arrow snap.
How long does it last?
As an absolute minimum you should allow 1 hour for this event but the duration is flexible to suit your desired outcomes. Some teams only want arrow snapping as a booster following lunch and therefore an hour is sufficient to prepare and train the participants before they snap the arrows.
If you have more time and really want to use this activity to benefit your employees and ultimately your company, we would suggest a two hour event where we can use the board break as a metaphor for looking at:
Goal setting and barriers
Working outside comfort zones
The importance of being focused
You could also consider doing a board break or glass walk to compliment this activity and really hammer home the learning and camaraderie for your team.
Anything else I should know?
We absolutely love this activity as does everyone that does it. The sense of empowerment that people feel is second to none. It is a perfect, stand alone activity, and it is easily complimented with rebar bending, board breaking, walking on glass and firewalking.
